His Majesty the King will donate more than 80 million baht to the Veterans General Hospital to buy medical equipment next month.
The money is being drawn from donations the Royal Household Bureau received from the public during the royal funeral rites for King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX.
His Majesty the King has instructed His Majesty's Personal Affairs Division 904 to assess the need for medical equipment from hospitals and medical institutes so the monarch can donate the money to them to buy the required equipment.
The Veterans General Hospital needs 11 items of medical equipment worth 80.44 million baht.
His Majesty the King will grant an audience to the hospital's management to receive the money next month. The date has yet to be fixed but will be between April 3-15.
A Veterans Council meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon acknowledged the matter yesterday.
