Robert Yates, Assistant Editor of the Observer, is overseeing the development of a new section in the front book of the newspaper. The blog asked him what it was all about. He replies:
What connects King Kong and David Cameron? Quite a few things, it turns out, according to Armando Iannucci ... Armando - as good as it gets when it comes to comic writing - is one of our brand new columnists in the section that we're calling '7 Days'. ('The Week' was already spoken for.) The idea is to bring in, alongside all the other handsome stuff in the front section, a more features, magaziney ... er, must avoid the word 'attitude' ... feel.
Elsewhere in the section, Victoria Coren - still beaming from being described as 'young, blonde and posh' in the Daily Mirror this week - ponders the act of nature that is Kate Moss. We're also introducing a guest weekly diary..this week, Stephen Daldry takes time out from despatching little Billy Elliots to conquer the world and tells us all about his fabulous, globe-trotting life. What else? Brilliant feature writer Tim Adams injects new life into the grand old Observer profile; our new Pendennis, Oliver Marre, gets busy creating mischief, and you can learn all about the science of 'fleeting relationships'. [Is that everything bigged up enough, Ed?]
