King Charles Plans To Attend Trooping The Colour Amid Cancer Treatment

cancer treatment

King Charles, aged 75, is determined to attend Trooping the Colour in London on June 15, despite undergoing cancer treatment. Reports suggest he may opt to travel by carriage from Buckingham Palace instead of riding on horseback, as he did last year. The King's desire to participate in this significant event is evident, with Buckingham Palace exploring various options to accommodate his health needs.

Trooping the Colour holds historical significance, dating back to 1760, and traditionally marks the reigning monarch's official birthday, regardless of their actual birth date. Last year, King Charles participated in the event for the first time as the sovereign, riding a black mare named Noble. Queen Elizabeth, in contrast, had switched to a carriage for the parade after turning 60.

Concerns about the King's health have led to uncertainties surrounding the event's specifics. Following a cancer diagnosis and treatment for an enlarged prostate, King Charles has been advised to limit public appearances. However, he continues to engage in behind-the-scenes work and host meetings with officials.

Meanwhile, questions loom over whether Kate Middleton will attend Trooping the Colour in June, as she recovers from abdominal surgery. Recent confusion arose when the British Army mistakenly listed Princess Kate as leading a review of soldiers at Horse Guards Parade, only to retract the announcement after Kensington Palace confirmed they were not consulted.

Last year's Trooping the Colour saw King Charles and Kate Middleton prominently involved in the festivities. The event commenced with the monarch's procession from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade, where military members were inspected. The day culminated in a balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace, where the Royal Air Force performed a flypast.
