King Charles is set for another foreign state visit

  • King Charles has “graciously accepted” an invitation to undertake a state visit to Ireland.
  • The invitation was extended by Irish President Catherine Connolly during her meeting with the monarch at Buckingham Palace.
  • This would be only the second visit by a British monarch to Ireland since its independence, following Queen Elizabeth II's state visit in 2011.
  • President Connolly is on a three-day official visit to England, with engagements in London and Leeds.
  • Her visit aims to engage with the Irish diaspora and highlight the significant contributions of Irish people to British society.
