King Charles has expressed his love for Prince Harry and Meghan, his son and daughter-in-law, during his first address as monarch on Friday. His Majesty shared how this moment was a "time for change for his family", referencing his new role as well as his wife Camilla, who has assumed the role of Queen Consort.
He then explained how his heir, Prince William, will take on new responsibilities with his wife Catherine by his side before speaking about Harry and Meghan, a significant gesture towards a couple whose relationships with the rest of the family have been strained in recent years.
"I want also to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas," Charles said during his solemn televised speech.

In January 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, announced on Instagram their decision to "step back as 'senior' members" of the British royal family, and split their time between the United Kingdom and North America, as well as to become financially independent.
Last year, a recorded interview by Oprah Winfrey with Harry and Meghan was met with controversy when allegation of racism were made regarding the royal family.

The Sussexes were in the UK when the Queen passed at Balmoral on Thursday but Harry arrived alone, sperate to his father and brother, after the public announcement of her death.
