King Charles 'exhausted' after gruelling Coronation and awkward family moments

King Charles has been non-stop since Friday, May 5th ahead of his official Coronation but the new Monarch has no plans to slow down.

Just hours before he and Queen Camilla were crowned, His Majesty held a reception at Buckingham Palace for foreign dignitaries and royalty, with his cousin, Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark and his wife, Princess Mary in attendance.

Elsewhere, the likes of King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan and Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco attended.

But following the Coronation ceremony, Their Majesties held a large dinner at Buckingham Palace, before making their way to Windsor Castle for Sunday's Coronation Concert.

Their Majesties will also be holding a garden party at their official Scotland residence, the Palace of Holyrood, for the community.

Sources have now claimed that the 74-year-old Sovereign has been "exhausted" by the persistent and hectic schedule.

"I spoke to someone close to the king this morning," Katie Nicholl told GB News, before adding: "I said, 'how is he feeling because he did a pre-party, pre-concert party and then after party and did that skit for American Idol, you know, brilliant.'

"The source said, 'exhausted but knackered,'" Katie told the hosts, before going on to add: "I'm not surprised, they need a good rest now because it has been a pretty epic weekend for them.

"Saturday was the day that he's waited his entire life for, you imagine the emotional energy that goes into a day like that, but I think overall it has been a great success."

Sunday night's Coronation Concert drew an average audience of 10.1 million viewers according to official figures from the BBC.

Kate Phillips, the BBC Director of Unscripted said: "Last night's Coronation Concert was an unforgettable evening of spectacular performances that brought us all together in celebration.

"Against the stunning backdrop of Windsor Castle, the concert reflected many of the King's passions and highlighted the outstanding talent we have in the UK and beyond.

"We hope that viewers 'never forget' it," making reference to Take That who performed.

But while the whole of the extended Royal Family gathered at Windsor Castle, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were noticeably absent after the Duke jetted back to California minutes after the Coronation finished.

The Duchess made the decision to remain in Montecito due to it being Prince Archie's birthday, with the Duke jetting back to celebrate with his family.

It's understood that His Majesty raised a glass to his four-year-old grandson at his post-Coronation dinner.
