King Charles Considering Visit To Australia Despite Cancer Diagnosis

Australia's Trade Minister Don Farrell visits Beijing

King Charles may be making a trip Down Under this year, as per Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The country is gearing up for a potential visit from the King to Australia later in the year. The monarch has shown empathy for Australians affected by natural disasters, reciprocating the support he received following his cancer diagnosis.

The potential visit aligns with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) scheduled to commence in Samoa on Oct. 24. Reports of the visit surfaced earlier this year, with the Prime Minister expressing anticipation for the King's arrival.

If the visit materializes, it would mark King Charles' first visit to Australia as sovereign. His late mother, Queen Elizabeth, visited the country in 2011, while Princess Anne and her husband visited in April 2022.

King Charles' cancer diagnosis was disclosed by Buckingham Palace in February, following a hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement. The King has initiated a course of treatments and has postponed public engagements while continuing with state affairs.

Despite his health challenges, King Charles has been actively involved in private meetings and state business. He was recently seen attending church with Queen Camilla and waving to well-wishers in London.

The royal couple's last overseas tour was in Kenya in 2023. The King remains optimistic about his treatment and aims to resume full public duties soon, sharing his diagnosis to raise awareness about cancer.
