King Charles and Camilla seen for first time since Harry and Meghan book bombshell

The King and the Queen Consort have been seen in public for the first time since the Queen's funeral and the launch of two explosive books about the royals.

Charles and Camilla were spotted in a car near the Balmoral estate in Scotland, where the pair having been staying over the past five days.

They were on their way to attend a service at Crathie Kirk, a small parish church in the nearby village of Crathie. The royal family regularly visit the church when staying at Balmoral.

The outing is the first time the couple have been seen in public since the Queen's funeral in London on Monday.

It also comes after the publication of two royal books that make a number of explosive claims about the family, in particular Harry and Meghan.

In one, Courtiers: the Hidden Power Behind the Crown, Times reporter Valentine Low writes about Prince Harry's apparent fear of becoming "irrelevant" and an alleged attempt at bridge building by William that was turned down.

Prince Harry refused to meet with William to discuss the Sussexes’ poor relationship with the other royals because he was “concerned” that the attempt at bridge building would be leaked to the press, it is claimed by Mr Low.

The book also claims that Harry and Meghan's closest staff in the UK, including their nanny, were not told where the couple were heading when they left the country for their new life abroad.

The New Royals, written by Katie Nicholls, meanwhile explores the relationships between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the newly crowned Prince and Princess of Wales and King Charles III over the years with inside sources giving behind the scene stories.

Despite William inviting Harry and Meghan to join him and Kate on a walkabout after the death of the Queen, Nicholls believes too much harm has been done for a reconciliation.

Other claims made in the book, include the Queen being surprised Meghan wore white, instead of off-white at her wedding because she'd been married before.

Today's public appearance of Charles and Camilla also comes after the release of an official photo of the king at work in Buckingham Palace.

The photo, taken last week and released on Friday, shows Charles sitting at a desk while he reviews documents from the red box.

A photo of his late mother and father can be seen in the background.
