
His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun attended a merit-making ceremony for the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Grand Palace on Saturday morning, following major merit-making ceremonies to mark one year of the passing of King Rama IX on Friday.
His Majesty, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha and Her Royal Highness Princess Siribha Chudhabhorn, arrived for the ceremony held in the Dusit Maha Prasart Throne Hall at 10.30am on Saturday.
The King lit candles and incense sticks to pay respect to his father and the Buddha image before listening to 30 monks chanting prayers.
He subsequently offered saffron robes to the monks. New prayers and blessings then followed.
In all provinces across the country, many Thais went to temples to make merit for King Rama IX on Saturday, the second day of the first anniversary of the passing of the late monarch.
