Kindhearted women put 'smile on everyone's faces' with surprise left outside Clatterbridge Hospital

Two florists decided to give something back to hard-working NHS staff on the frontline of the coronavirus panedmic by leaving a special surprise outside Clatterbridge Hospital.

A huge heart-shaped, yellow floral decoration was placed at the entrance to the hospital on Mother’s Day, March 22.

However as it was left anonymously, staff took to social media to discover who had left the heartwarming display.

And, after the post was shared hundreds of times, the kind-hearted florists Heather Feather and Nicola Saverimutto, who run Flower Fashion wedding planning service in , were tracked down.

Heather said: “We wanted to support and put a smile on everyone’s faces. It was a really positive thing for us to do too, to divert our minds into something else, keeping us busy at this horrendous time.

“Flowers make everybody happy so we hope it helps mental health too and send a message for anyone who is suffering, going through, survived cancer or lost their loved one through cancer.

“We just wanted to share the love and be kind.”

Many people left comments after the display was featured on the hospital’s .

Tania Owens said: “Beautiful gesture for a fantastic hospital.”

Tina Hogg said: “You have done something so beautiful it will be appreciated by all staff and patients alike thank you so much.”

Andy Williams said: “That’s wonderful! Well done Heather and Nicola. All NHS staff deserve medals. And the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is a fantastic place with amazing staff!”

Andrea Cutts said: “Having received excellent intensive treatment at the Cancer Centre 4 years ago, I really feel for all the patients (and staff) currently going through an extra tough ordeal.”

In line with other hospitals, as part of its coronavirus measures Clatterbridge is restricting visitors to immediate family members or carers, with only one visitor allowed per day for a maximum of two hours.

Visitors will be permitted between 4pm and 7pm daily.
