Kind stranger warms hearts with note and free food left in park for those in need

The last year has been an especially difficult time for many and there are numerous people who find themselves in need of a little help.

And one kind soul has taken it upon themselves to make a difference to someone in need, by leaving food supplies on a park bench for people to collect, free of charge.

A local resident spotted the boxes and bags of free food on a bench while walking through Leith Links park, reports Edinburgh Live.

They then shared it via Facebook alerting others that may be struggling for food during the cold winter period.

The photo shows there were two big boxes and a bag packed full of essentials such as bread, rolls, fruit and vegetables with a note attached that read: "Free to use, please put the lid back on."

It's not the first time a kind gesture like this has been spotted in the area (edinburghlive)

The local who shared the collection of food said: "Passed this on the bench at the end of the links just before the bridge over towards Seafield - boxes filled with bread, rolls, general food etc free to whoever needs it.

"What a kind thing to do."

This isn't the first time a similar gesture has been spotted over the last few years in the area to help homeless individuals and those struggling financially.

People in the comments said that this has been a regular occurrence over the years, with one kind-hearted individual taking it upon themselves to provide help during the winter months

As well as helping those who are a bit strapped for cash or fighting with homelessness, it also provides some relief for those who are still struggling with the notion of being in and around shops during the pandemic.

A lot of people have suffered from anxiety and mental health issues during the pandemic and this touching gesture is sure to benefit those who still feel uncomfortable being within close proximity of others.

It's so lovely to see people having each other's backs during the most difficult of times!
