Kind police officers step in to feed vulnerable women at risk of being 'cuckooed'

Two kind police officers stepped in to feed vulnerable women who were at risk of being "cuckooed".

The officers stepped in this week when they met the two women while working around the city.

After hearing that the women were hungry, the officers bought them food and took them home and off the streets.

According to their sergeant, the officers then also made arrangements to protect the women who they believed could be taken advantage of.

Sgt Andrew Lloyd tweeted after the encounter to praise his officers publicly.

He said: "Two of my officers engaged with two very vulnerable females this week.

"Noticed they were hungry.

"Bought them food out of their own pocket and took them home where they made arrangements to prevent them from being cuckooed.

"Fantastic."

Replying to some of his followers, Sgt Lloyd explained that cuckooing was when a vulnerable person's home is taken over by drug dealers or users.

The people being cuckooed are often threatened or attacked to allow this to happen but hopefully now these women will be protected.

Their actions were also praised by Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, Andy Cooke, who replied to the tweet and said: "Excellent work."

Detective Constable Tracy O'Hara also said: "Great work and compassion..

"The officers showed there's so much more to being a police officer.

"I am a proud colleague."
