Kind-hearted Wishaw woman praised by her loving partner

A woman who has shown great strength and resilience in the face of personal adversity has been nominated for the Wishaw Press Say it With Flowers competition.

After the tragic loss of her baby due to a miscarriage, Kim Allan suffered from post natal depression following the birth of her youngest son - but brave Kim has come through it with the support of her family.

The 30-year-old mum-of-two, originally from Allanton but who now lives in Wishaw with her partner Stewart Walker, attended Allanton Primary School and Calderhead High.

She then worked as a care assistant in Morningside care home in Newmains for a number of years before giving up her career and devoting her life to raising her two sons, Reece, eight, and two-year-old Lenny.

Nominating her for the flowers, Stewart told Lanarkshire Live : “Kim has been through a hard time over the last couple of years.

"She had a miscarriage and then had post natal depression when she had our youngest boy, but she has learned to deal with it in her own way.

“She is very strong and I think working in the care home helped her. She worked there for about three years before she decided to give it up so that she could stay at home with our two sons and let me get a better job.

“She is a kind-hearted person and would do anything for anybody and always puts others first before herself and I wanted to show her how much I care.”

When Stewart told us about Kim’s nomination, we were delighted to help, surprising her with this stunning floral display, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals.

And a delighted Kim told us: “I’m overwhelmed to be quite honest, but it’s good to feel appreciated.

"It has been a hard year and a half but I’d like to thank Stewart and the Wishaw Press for nominating me and to Pixies Petals for providing these beautiful flowers.”
