Kind-hearted super sporty six-year-old climbs Tinto Hill in aid of Lanarkshire charity

A kind-hearted, super keen kid from East Kilbride has raised vital funds for charity.

Sporty six-year-old Eva Dickson scaled Tinto Hill last month and raised £953 for Kilbryde Hospice.

The Calderwood Primary pupil took inspiration after her dad and uncle climbed the hill a few weeks prior and decided she would take on the task for herself for charity.

Proud mum Chelsea told Lanarkshire Live : “Eva’s dad and Uncle climbed Tinto one weekend and when they came back she was saying she wanted to do it.

“She had heard about sponsors on YouTube and so she asked us what a sponsor was.

“Her dad explained she could get sponsored to do something for a charity. After telling her about the work Kilbryde Hospice do, she decided that was who she wanted to raise funds for.

“She had tunnel vision, she was so focused to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

"She was on a mission asking anyone and everyone to sponsor her.”

And so, Eva and her dad, Scott set out for Tinto Hill on Monday, July 26, where they made it to the top on a sunny afternoon.

Chelsea added: “Between her getting the idea and going up the hill, it was only a week, but she raised £953 in that week which is amazing.

“She is super sporty so she managed to climb quite easily.

“It was her first ever charity fundraiser and we are so proud of her. “

And Eva was even able to take her donation to the Hospice last week with her proud mum and dad and siblings and handed over a huge cheque to community fundraiser Emma Clark.

And the staff at Kilbryde were delighted with Eva’s efforts.

A spokeswoman told us : “We were absolutely delighted to hear of Eva’s fundraising challenge, climbing Tinto Hill to raise money for her local hospice.

“What an incredible achievement especially at only six-years-old! Eva raised an amazing £953, with the help of her family and friends, which will make such a difference to Kilbryde Hospice.

“Thank you so much Eva from everyone at Kilbryde Hospice, you truly are a hospice hero.”
