Kind-hearted Scots toddlers gift hundreds of pounds in chocolate to elderly pals

Big-hearted nursery toddlers have delivered a huge dose of Christmas spirit to their older pals at a Scottish care home.

Kind kids – aged three and four – took gifts of chocolates to elderly residents aged up to 102 at the facility in Glasgow.

The children collected hundreds of pounds worth of festive choccies over the last few weeks to gift to their OAP pals so they are not forgotten over the festive period.

Linda Reynolds, a nursery teacher in Ruchazie who organised the collection, said: “We have an inter-generational group that sees the children go up to the home to do crafts and interact with the residents there.

“They have formed a real bond. One boy who is four loves to go up there and comes back telling his mum and dad that he had a great time with his friend Billy who is 77. We found out that only 15 per cent of residents get visitors.

“There is a lost group of people and we decided to do something. They aren’t forgotten about and we set about collecting chocolates to give out to the men and women at Craigend Gardens.

“They never ask for anything, they are just so happy to see the kids. We have got more than 160 boxes and tubs of chocolates. Everyone has been so supportive and really wanted to get involved.

“It is such a win-win situation. The kids love going to see their pals and the elderly residents love seeing the children.”
