Kind-hearted Scots employees donate Christmas party meals to homeless after covid cancellation

Kind-hearted Scots have donated the meals from their cancelled Christmas party to the homeless in Glasgow.

More than 70 meals are being handed out across the city after software consultancy firm 2i Testing decided to scrap their festive do amid covid concerns.

But in the spirit of the season, big-hearted staff pulled out all the stops and arranged for the festive food to be packaged up and given to a local charity, Glasgow Live reports.

The Kindness Homeless Street Team are distributing the meals to some of the city's most vulnerable thanks to the efforts of the company and Glasgow-based Prep To Plate.

Dave Kelly, Managing Director at 2i, which has offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London, said he was "very proud" of his staff, who will be treated to a Christmas gift and have another night out when it's safer to do so in the new year.

He added: "When we decided just over a week ago that we weren’t going through with our party this year, there was huge disappointment throughout the company.

“But hopefully this will be offset by the positive impact this will have on Glasgow’s homeless community."

“It’s been a huge effort to organise this but I’m delighted that the team has pulled it off."

Laura McSorley from Kindness HST said: "A massive thank you to 2i for their inventiveness and kindness for making this happen!"
