Kind-hearted schoolgirl, six, donates 14 inches of her hair to The Little Princess Trust

A Lanarkshire schoolgirl has had a huge haircut to help young children who have lost their hair from cancer treatment.

Kind-hearted Parker Robertson was delighted to part with 35cm (approximately 14 inches) of her locks, which has now been donated to The Little Princess Trust.

And thanks to generous donations, the six-year-old has also managed to raise over £700 for the charity which uses the funds to make the wigs for children affected by cancer.

It was the first full haircut Parker had ever had, but she's already loving her new look and knows it's all been for a fantastic cause.

She told Lanarkshire Live : "I wanted to give kids who’ve lost their hair some of mine in case they felt embarrassed or sad and thought this might make them feel happier.

"I really like my new haircut and can brush my hair by myself now - but I do miss being able to have it tied up in pleats.

"I hope whoever gets the wig made from my hair feels like a princess.

"I want to thank everyone for their kind donations as it means so much to me and to the kids who need these wigs."

Parker is looking forward to starting P3 at Netherburn Primary when schools returns next week where she can show off her new haircut to classmates.

She originally set a fundraising target of £150 which she passed in the first day so the target was increased to £550, covering the full cost of the wig being made, which she then smashed as well.

Proud mum Heather Robertson said: "Parker had really long beautiful hair which had never had a full cut before so was able to donate 35cm/14 inches.

"She's really pleased that her hair will make another girl happy and said she wanted them to feel like a princess and we're all so proud of her for thinking of others."
