A group of caring Dublin nurses are planning to run this year's Women's Mini Marathon to raise funds to help improve their patients' stay in hospital.
The six nurses work on St Vincent's Ward, which cares for cancer patients in the Mater Hospital.
They are going above and beyond the call of duty so they can buy fitness equipment to help make patients' stay more enjoyable.

In a statement on the group's fundraising page, they said: "Unfortunately we all know a family who has been affected by a cancer diagnosis.
"As six nurses working on St Vincent’s ward, an inpatient oncology/Haemotology medical ward in the Mater Hospital we see what patients and families go through first hand and our aim is to try and improve their experience with us as much as we can from diagnosis to discharge."
Many of the patients will stay on the ward for up to a year receiving chemotherapy and other treatments.

The nurses recently surveyed patients and their families to ask them what they felt would make their stay easier.
Patients responded saying they felt they would benefit from fitness equipment and other forms of holistic care.
