Kind-hearted Motherwell woman with a 'heart of gold' is this week’s Say It With Flowers recipient

Motherwell woman Eyleen Cocks was nominated for this week's arrangement by young Wishaw mum, Claire-Louise Weir.

The big-hearted Motherwell grandmother, who is now retired, gives up her time to bake whenever she is asked to do so.

And since her retirement, the 67-year-old now devotes her time to creating delicious cakes for her daughter, Melanie and three grandchildren, Tamzin, Taylor and Riley, as well as her friends and the local community.

Claire-Louise told Lanarkshire Live: “ I met Eyleen through my friend Megan as she is her auntie, but she has taken me under her wing.

"Every time I ask her to do any baking for my wee boys' birthdays, she is always willing to help.

“She made caramel shortcakes and empire biscuits, as well as the birthday cake for my boys Rory and Lauchlan and wouldn’t take a penny for them.

"She is so generous and has a heart of gold and always goes above and beyond.”

And when Claire-Louise told us about Eyleen's efforts, we were delighted to help, by surprising her with this stunning floral arrangement, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals in Newmains.

“I think she will be mortified. She doesn’t see what she does as being over and above; she doesn’t think she is doing anything special," added Claire-Louise.

"She is just fantastic. She is so lovely and kind and it will be nice for her to be the centre of attention for a change."

A delighted Eyleen told us: “It was a lovely gesture. It’s something that you don’t expect. I would like to thank Claire-Louise and the Wishaw Press for nominating me, and to Pixies Petals for the lovely flowers."
