Kind-hearted locals rally around East Lothian man who suddenly lost his leg

Locals have gone the extra mile to help out an East Lothian man who suddenly lost his leg.

Robert Inglis, from Prestonpans, went to visit his doctor when he suddenly felt pain in his right leg.

After being looked over, his GP sent him straight to hospital where medics told him they would need to operate immediately to remove his limb due to dangerous blood clots.

The local has now lost his leg, but thanks to the quick thinking of kind-hearted friends, he has been given his independence back.

Local pals Davie Martin and Ian Johnstone came up with a plan to donate the mobility scooter of Ian's mum who sadly passed away, with Robert saying telling Edinburgh Live that he is incredibly grateful for the gesture.

Davie Martin said: "It's always rewarding being able to help someone but even more so when it's a auld pal.

"Was gutted to learn at the weekend the sad news of Big Sinky Robert Inglis loosing his right limb and struggling to get out and about and gaining some independence.

"So tonight we were able to provide The Big yin with this large buggy to help change his circumstances.

"With the kindness of Ian Johnstone who donated a smaller buggy than the one in the picture, in the memory if his mum we were able to give Ian's buggy to the person we gave this one to a few months ago but wasn't comfortable using the bigger one.

"Freeing this one to help Robert will make a huge difference to him and his family big time Thanks to everyone who made this possible it such a short time"

"The Panners and the Belters kin be friends."
