Kind-hearted dealership offers vehicles to NHS workers who lost their cars in hospital flood

A dealership has offered up its cars to NHS staff left who lost their vehicles during the floods in Fife last week.

Pictures showed the devastation as a car park used by staff at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy was filled with floodwater, leaving vehicles piled up and destroyed.

Craig Ingram of Specialist Cars Volkswagen Fife said the heartbreaking pictures led staff at the dealership to offer the use of their cars to hospital workers who’d been left without transport.

Craig told Edinburgh Live : “The pictures of the hospital went nationwide, it was terrible that it happened at all, even more so that it affected NHS staff."

“We’ve traded in Kirkcaldy for almost 20 years, so we thought it would be a nice thing to pool as many of our cars together as we possibly could and offer them to these members of staff who are maybe struggling to get about at the moment, while they’re still waiting for their replacement cars of their insurance money.

Craig said lots of staff had already been in touch to ask about getting to their shifts in one of the pool cars.

“At the moment the guys are working with over 20 members of staff who’ve contacted us – so we’ve got a team pooling together what cars are available and what people need,” he added.

“We’re taking each case individually and working with each person to keep them mobile, at least for a period of time."

NHS staff can get in touch via the dealership’s Facebook page here.
