Kind-hearted Corsock youngster makes pots for Castle Douglas Food Bank

A kind-hearted youngster has been pot-ting in the hours for charity.

Five-year-old Pippin Fitch has been making pots to sell to raise funds for the Stepping Stones Foodbank in Castle Douglas.

Pippin’s parents, Doug Fitch and Hannah McAndrew from Corsock, are potters and the trio recently attended Potfest in Warwickshire.

Pippin had her own little stall next to her parents and made £70.

She was excited to share her success with her pals at Treasure Island Nursery in Castle Douglas and told them: “I was at a pottery show and I was selling vases. We sold out.

“We gave the money to the foodbank. I’ve made more vases and we’re going to another pottery show soon. Mummy and Daddy make more things than me but I’ve made more vases for the next pottery show.”

The nursery community was so impressed they matched her £70 total, as did two of Doug and Hannah’s customers. Another sent a further £20 and there have even been orders from her work from as far afield as America.

Since then, Pippin has been busy making more vases which she’ll be selling alongside Doug and Hannah’s pieces at Potfest in the Park in Cumbria this weekend.
