Kind carer thanks hard-working posties with snacks outside Dumbarton home amid coronavirus

A kind-hearted carer set up a snack bar outside her home for posties to help themselves amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Alicja Tomar put a box on the doorstep of her house in Dumbarton, West Dunbartonshire, full of goodies, including chocolate bars, Pringles, crisps, fruit and various different drinks.

The 30-year-old made sure to respect social distancing and hygiene guidelines by donning a pair of gloves and disinfecting the box with antibacterial wipes.

The community carer, who works with the elderly, also left a heartwarming note for local Royal Mail staff thanking them for all their hard work during the ciris.

The community carer left a lovely note thanking her postie for all their hard work (Alicja Tomar)

It reads: "Dear Postman/Courier,

“Thank you so much for your hard work at this difficult time and putting yourself in the foot line!

“Please help yourself to snacks and drinks from the box.

“I used gloves putting them in there and the box has been wiped with antibacterial wipes, so they are virus free.”

Speaking to The Record, Alicja said the idea came to her while having a chat with her postie.

She said: "One day I spoke with my postman and he told me that they are really short with staff at the moment.

"I just felt sorry for them as everyone is talking about the NHS working hard, but it not only them.

"They are all working so hard with so little recognition!"
