Kind bus driver digs into own pocket to help stranded woman

A kind bus driver came to the rescue of a woman who was refused travel on another bus when a technical glitch meant her card payment was declined.

The woman posted on social media about her experience in St Helens on Sunday.

She said: "Just want to say a massive thank you to the kind bus driver that has saved my day.

"I have been on my way to work and I always pay on the bus by card, for some reason it kept beeping and not accepting my card.

"I explained to the driver I had 30 mins to get to work and had no cash.

"I even tried to prove the money was in my bank for him to completely refuse me with no consideration and a big smile on his face.

"I couldn't run to the bank as they are closed. I tried to find a manager... and a bus driver who looked in a rush himself explained there are no managers about today and didn’t hesitate at all to reach into his pocket and pass me a couple quid for my bus fare and refusing to let me transfer it back to him.

"At least I can happily say there are plenty of good people out there! I did ask him for his name, I'm not sure if I heard it right but.. thank you!! I hope this reaches him."

The bus driver himself also responded to the woman's post, saying: "By the way. It was me. The bus driver... No problem kidda."

Many people congratulated him on his actions, with one saying: "What a fantastic thing to do. Well done," and another saying: "A truly Good Samaritan. Thank you."
