Kimberley Walsh breaks Girls Aloud fans hearts as she rules out band reunion

Kimberley Walsh has shattered Girls Aloud fans dreams after revealing she’s ruled out a band reunion.

The 38-year-old, who was one fifth of one of the UK’s biggest ever girl bands, has confessed she’s no longer interested in pop music in a bombshell interview.

Kimberley shot to fame alongside Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle when they won Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.

But mum-of-two Kimberley has shut down any possibility of the girls getting back together in an interview with OK! as she revealed she “wouldn’t be interested in doing anything pop related”.

"Maybe another musical album would be fun,” the star teased of her own future as she shut down hopes of a Girls Aloud reunion.

Kimberley has thrown herself into musical theatre since the band broke up, and is currently in the middle of performances of Sleepless: A Musical Romance alongside fellow West End star and The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness.

Kimberley’s reunion shut down comes just weeks after it was revealed her bandmate Sarah was ready to sign up to a massive Girls Aloud reunion - before she discovered she has cancer.

The 38-year-old singer made the heartbreaking revelation last month after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, with the disease spreading to other parts of her body.

The devastating news is said to have been told to her while the singer, alongside her girl band co-stars had been finalising plans for a massive Girls Aloud 20th anniversary reunion.

The ladies are said to have been in discussions since the beginning of last year for a reunion that would have secured them each a reported £4 million.

Plans had been in the works for the group to release new music in 2021, tour the UK, and appear on a string of TV show.

However, the group are now said to be putting plans on hold as they rally around Sarah following her sad health reveal.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Everyone was hugely excited to announce the comeback later this year.

“Poor Sarah was desperate to make this happen, so her diagnosis has been doubly devastating.

“At the moment, all anyone cares about is that she gets the treatment she needs — the music comes second.

“But for the first time in years, all five girls are back in regular contact — even if under the most heartbreaking of circumstances.”

Sarah is receiving weekly chemotherapy treatment and previously assured fans she was fighting the disease “as hard as I possibly can.”
