The SPFL have today confirmed they have launched disciplinary proceedings against Kilmarnock after alleged breach of Covid rules.

In a statement issued today, the SPFL have claimed that coronavirus protocols were breached ahead of the clash with Motherwell on October 2.

Ahead of the clash at Rugby Park, Alex Dyer's whole squad were advised to self-isolate with six players testing positive for the virius.

A hearing will now be held with a date still to be announced.

The SPFL statement read: "It is alleged that Kilmarnock FC breached the SPFL’s Covid-19 Regulations during the lead-up to their postponed League Match v Motherwell FC on Friday, 2 October.

"A hearing will be held before a Sub-Committee of the Board of the SPFL, chaired by an independent legally-qualified chair."

In a brief response on Twitter, Kilmarnock FC stated: "The club will defend our position fully."

The news comes as Motherwell became the latest club to be hit by a Covid set-back with one player testing positive.
