After rumours began to circulate that the reason behind their divorce was because one of them cheated, insiders shut it down while speaking to TMZ.
The source also denied any speculation that Kim is fiending to return to for the first time since 2012.
ICYMI: Just hours after it was reported that the controversial couple owes USD$1.1 million (AUD$1.6 million) in unpaid taxes, it was revealed that they have ended their 11-year marriage.
Speaking to an insider close to the couple has put their two cents in, revealing Kim planned to end the marriage long before filing for divorce.
“She had not told anyone, not even family. She didn’t tell anyone, even [her] friends were kept in the dark,” the source said.
Meanwhile another insider told DailyMail.com that the financial struggles led to the breakdown of their relationship as Kim “blamed” Kroy for everything as she’d allowed him to be in control of their finances “for years.”
“Kroy did everything for Kim,” the source explained. “He was her manager, her assistant, and her husband. She leaned on him for so many years and relied on him for everything. She also took him for granted and she blamed him when their financial situation went to hell.”
According to legal docs obtained by , the couple have officially separated as their marriage is “irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation.”
To make things even shadier, Troy seemingly slammed his missus on his Instagram by changing his bio to read: “My ring Meant a Thing.”
For the non viewers among us, that’s one of the godawful songs Kim Zolciak recorded while on the show, the other being the infamous “Tardy for the Party”.
His bio previously read: “Husband. Father to six perfect munchkins. Athlete. You can Google Me & see I wasn’t Tardy for that Party.”
Zolciak, otherwise known as “Wig”, is seeking primary physical custody of the kids and joint legal custody. Kim also wants spousal support from the athlete and to legally restore her maiden name, which she hyphenated after getting hitched to Zolciak-Biermann.
This whole thing is wild, not just because they appeared to be thick as thieves, but because the divorce announcement quickly followed the exposure of their financial and legal qualms.
According to legal docs, once again obtained by , the couple owes (USD)$1.1M to the IRS for unpaid taxes, interest, and penalties from 2013, 2017, and 2018. They also owe the state of Georgia (USD)$15K for unpaid taxes for 2018.
The couple share four kids together, , 11, , 10, and 9-year-old twins and . Fans of will also remember that Kim has two kids from previous relationships, , 25, and , 21.
The pair got married a year after meeting on , of which Kim had been a full-time Housewife since its inception.
After they got married in November 2011, they scored their own spinoff …, which lasted for eight seasons and ended in 2020.
Kim briefly returned to but her would-be revival went down in flames, with her castmates blaming her reliance on her hubby as her downfall.
Kim would often bail on trips and cast events, citing her family obligations as the reason.
Needless to say this has been a major shock to stans, especially since the news broke the day after returned to our screens:
Kim Zolciak was mentioned for allegedly fostering a “racially-insensitive” working environment.
The lawsuit alleged that Leakes, who is Black, issued numerous complaints to executives during her duration on the show of racist remarks from Kim during her time on the show.
Despite this, Leakes claimed suffered consequences to her career while Zolciak was rewarded with a spinoff.
The lawsuit was later dropped and both Housewives remain estranged.
