Kim Mulkey Curt With Media After Angel Reese’s Second Unexplained Missed Game

This season, the biggest news surrounding LSU women’s basketball has not been who is playing for the Tigers, but rather, who is not.

For two games now, LSU has been without the services of star forward Angel Reese. After abruptly spending the entire second half of the Tigers’ 109–79 win over Kent State on Nov. 14 on the bench, Reese was absent for her team's wins over Southeastern Louisiana Friday and Texas Southern Monday.

The college basketball world has been left questioning what has happened to Reese, who became a household name seven short months ago during LSU's run to the national title. Tigers coach Kim Mulkey, however, remained reluctant to tip her hand Monday night.

“Sometimes you want to know more than you’re entitled to know,” Mulkey said. “I’m going to protect my players. Always.”

LSU downed Texas Southern 106–47 Monday behind 17 points and eight rebounds from guard Flau’jae Johnson—the team’s sixth straight win since a season-opening loss to Colorado.

“If you do some disciplining of your own children, do you think we’re entitled to know that?” Mulkey asked. “That’s a family in that locker room.”
