Kim Kardashian-West's emoji app 'Kimoji' actually 'breaks the internet'

Kim Kardashian-West may have just achieved what she’s always wanted to do: break the internet.

The phrase, famously coined when Paper magazine used it as a headline alongside a bare-bottomed cover of Kardashian-West, rings true after her latest tech venture crashed Apple’s App Store.

Kimoji – a series of emojis illustrating things relevant to the reality television star’s life has already become the most popular downloaded app 24 hours after being released as well as apparently halting Apple's App Store operations.

In a series of tweets she apologised to the corporation for “breaking” their App Store and expressed her disbelief at the app’s instant popularity.

She also sought to calm her fans by reassuring them that her entire tech team was working to resolve any issues.

Kardashian-West’s mother and manager, aka ‘momager’, Kris Jenner also waded in previewing the popular emojis and explaining that the App Store was “overwhelmed”.

Emojis featured in the collection include the infamous ‘belfie’ (backwards selfie), a hand taking a selfie, her famed rear and a copy of the leather jacket emblazoned with ‘married’ which she and her husband Kanye West both donned in an Instagram post following their 2014 nuptials.

‘Kim’s crying face’ which resulted in numerous memes after she was shown upset following the breakdown of her second marriage to Kris Humphries on the reality show Kourtney and Kim Take New York is also included.

This is not the 35-year-old’s first tech venture, the Kim Kardashian: Hollywood game was released in 2014 and has proven extremely successful, acquiring $1.6million in the first few days and $43million in the third quarter of 2014.

Additionally each  sister of the famous family: Kim, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner all released individual apps recently.

The Kardashian clan live much of their life through social media; Kardashian-West even announced the birth of her second child, Saint through emojis earlier this month, whereas Kendall Jenner had the most liked Instagram post of 2015.

The Independent has contacted Apple for comment.
