But unmoved Kim doesn't appear too bothered about what anyone is saying.
She has posted more photos of the trip, shrugging off the controversy of her visit to Marlon Brando's The Brando Resort.
The latest snaps come after her sister Khloe was forced to defend her when she appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday.
Kim shared a number of clips from the big-money bash, as well as more shots of the family playing in the ocean.
The mum-of-four captioned the slideshow "night swim" as she posed alongside sister Kourtney, her former PA Stephanie Shepherd and pal LaLa Anthony.
On the trip she was joined by a number of her friends and family members, including sisters Kourtney, Khloe and Kendall.
Brother Rob, and mom Kris Jenner were also spotted.
Kris' beau Corey Gamble was also there, as was Kourtney's ex Scott Disick and Khloe's ex Tristan Thompson.
Kim's guests were treated to lavish dinners, spa treatments and guided treks of the island.
Khloe discussed the controversy on the Ellen Show and said she had a right to celebrate her big birthday in style.
She said" "I haven't heard a lot about it, but I did hear that people were upset that we all went out town [but] I don't really know the extent of it, but this year is a frustrating year. I get it.
"I think there's so many frustrations going on for everybody, but also, it's her 40th. This is something she really wanted to do for us."
