It's never been an easy task to make a ponytail look bouncy and glamorous.
Sometimes a scraped back look can make it seem like you're off to the gym rather than a nice occasion or a smart up-do for work.
But now celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, who works with the tresses of Kim Kardashian, has revealed his hack for creating a thicker-looking pony.

You may have seen the celeb stylist in Keeping Up With The Kardashians, but Chris is also the man behind J-Lo's signature looks including the iconic Super Bowl blowdry, and has also worked with stars Dua Lipa and Arianna Grande.
He's often sharing his secret tips to regular folk on social media though, and his latest video on 'upgrading your pony game' has racked up more than 25 million views - with users branding the easy method as 'genius'.
Demonstrating on a model, the British hairdresser said: "Try this hair hack for anyone that wants to make their hair look thicker and upgrade their pony game".
Filming in steps with a voiceover, Chris says: "It's time to upgrade your ponytail from this to this in a few simple steps.
"You're going to need two elastics.
"All you do is split the hair into two, and pull the top half up into a high ponytail, and secure with your elastic.
"You then split the underneath into two, and pull it on top of the previous ponytail.
"What this is going to do is basically make it look like you've got double the amount of hair that you've got, so this is great for anyone with fine hair, and it just makes your ponytail really full and glam."
Carrie B responded: "Omgggggg amazing tricks, thanks amazing."
User sdent5 replied: "I think I can actually do this."
Teresa Adams said: "This is genius" while Kylie added: "Great tip! Thanks for sharing, I will definitely be trying this."
And Marley Frankel commented: "You're a genius."
While thousands were impressed with the straightforward hack, some viewers were left unconvinced.
A few asked to see what the pony looked like from the side, while some others complained they didn't have enough hair for it.
Amanda Panda said: "No way my fine hair would do this. You would see two defined rat tails in the back lol."
While user8131889122824 replied: "Thanks, but I have 3 hairs."
