Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kanye West after nearly seven years of marriage.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star filed the papers in Los Angeles Superior Court Friday through her lawyer Laura Wasser, according to TMZ, which reports that Kardashian is asking for “joint legal and physical custody” of the couple’s four children.

The outlet also reports that the couple have a prenup in place and that neither side is contesting the agreement. According to TMZ, Kardashian, 40, and West, 43, have already begun reaching a property settlement agreement, with the outlet citing sources who have described the divorce proceedings as “amicable”.

The divorce filing comes after rumours regarding the end of the couple’s marriage have circulated for months, with Page Six reporting in January that divorce was “imminent”.

The Skims founder and the rapper, who share children North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and Psalm, one, first started dating in April 2012 after knowing one another for years.

The couple announced they were expecting their first child together in December 2012, before later marrying in a lavish ceremony in Italy in May 2014.

Kardashian, who is currently studying to become a lawyer, has been divorced twice before. She ended her marriage to music producer Damon Thomas in 2004, before later filing for divorce from NBA player Kris Humphries in 2011 after just 72 days of marriage.

As of now, neither Kardashian nor West have commented publicly on their decision to end their marriage, however, the divorce proceedings come after multiple sources have said that the couple has been living separately for months following West’s failed presidential run and a series of public outbursts.
