Kim Kardashian: Paris robbery made me reassess what matters and start my law career

Kim Kardashian said that being robbed at gunpoint forced her to reconsider her life and eventually sparked her interest in pursuing a legal career.

Kardashian was staying in Paris during Fashion Week in 2016 when the incident that she says changed her life occurred.

The 39-year-old was held at gunpoint, tied, gagged with duct tape and robbed of £9 million worth of jewellery

In a new interview with The Cut, the reality TV star detailed how the robbery led to her working in law.

She said: “I truly think once I got robbed, it took something out of me in the best way.

“All the things that really mattered to me then deeply — how many bags I had, what car I drove … I still like all that stuff, but it doesn’t matter.

“It could go away. For so long, people have tried to partner me with things. But this was the first thing where I thought, You know what?”

In the last year Kardashian has been more vocal about the work she is doing with prison reforms and her decision to study law.

She added: “I want to go to law school. I want to help people. Let me work for the next ten years and build up my brands, and then one day, in ten years, just give up being Kim K and become a lawyer.

“And now I’ve come to a realisation about what I care about. No publicist would have ever told me to get into prison reform. It was always like, Get into Operation This and Children That.”

She added that her move into the political sphere has left her as shocked as her critics.

“I’m just as surprised as everyone else,” she said of her recent lobbying.

In April, the mum-of-four told how she has undertaken a four-year apprenticeship, which she began last year, at a San Francisco law firm in order to get in her 18 hours a week of exam preparation.

Speaking to Vogue earlier this year, Kardashian - who is married to rapper Kanye West - admitted she had to “think long and hard” about the move.
