Kim Kardashian has found herself in a very niche but very loud corner of internet discourse this week, after a slightly awkward run-in at the Monaco Grand Prix turned into full-blown F1 fan outrage.
Over the weekend, Kim and Khloé Kardashian were on the ground in Monte Carlo, doing what the ultra-rich do best: looking expensive near fast cars and of course, Ms Kimmy K was also supporting her new boo, aka with driver Lewis Hamilton.
But things got a bit tense when Sky Sports presenter Martin Brundle approached the pair during his pre-race “grid walk” — a segment that’s basically sacred viewing for Formula 1 fans.
In a clip that’s now everywhere, Brundle greets Kim and tries to ask how she’s enjoying the race weekend. Kim appears not to respond, briefly glancing away as someone from her entourage steps in. Brundle persists (as he does), noting that guests usually stop for a quick chat, but Kim keeps moving, offering only a small wave before walking off with Khloé.
Brundle then tells viewers on-air that it looks like they won’t be speaking this time around, audibly deflated as the moment fizzles.

And just like that, the internet erupted.
Some fans were quick to call the interaction “rude”, arguing that Brundle’s grid walk is a long-standing part of the sport and deserves a baseline level of respect.

Others pushed back, pointing out that the grid is chaotic, tightly controlled, and full of security and that celebrities aren’t actually obligated to stop mid-walk for an interview.

Still, the backlash isn’t happening in a vacuum. Kim’s presence at F1 has already been… divisive, especially amid her very public romance with Hamilton. The two have been spotted together at multiple events in recent months, and eagle-eyed viewers even clocked what looked like Lewis blowing a kiss in her direction from the Monaco podium. For some fans it seems like it’s the crossover they didn’t ask for.

Kim and Khloé haven’t addressed the Brundle moment, and I can’t imagine they will… unless of course we can look forward to the tea being spilled on the next season of the Kardashians.
