Kim Kardashian 'knows how to keep her newborn safe' after SIDS risk claims

Kim Kardashian West 'has hit back' after she was criticised for the first photo she shared of newborn son Psalm.

The 38-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star posted a picture of the boy in his crib , but some claimed he was 'in danger of sudden infant death syndrome', or SIDS.

The reality star's fourth child was pictured swaddled in blankets and asleep with bumpers and a number of soft toys around him, which prompted concerns for the baby's welfare.

One follower replied to the makeup entrepreneur's post: "Everything about this picture causes me anxiety. Please follow safe sleep habits. It can reduce the risk of SIDS."

Another urged Kim: "Please please please go pay an overpriced ‘sleep consultant’ to get all that unnecessary padding, bumpers, and blankets out of your child's crib so they are not at risk for SIDS.”

Experts had pointed out that, "parents need to avoid using any soft objects in the bed, and this includes crib bumpers, blankets, pillows as those items could make it more difficult for young children to breathe, which could possibly result in death."

People.com has reported that Kim is "aware" of the criticism that had been levelled at her since sharing the pic.

A source told them: "Kim is aware that she got negative comments about the photo of Psalm.

"It was a split-second, staged photo."

Hitting back at the questions about her parenting, the source said that Kim was well aware of how to look after the latest addition to the family.

The source continued: "As a mother of four, she very much knows how to keep her newborn safe in the crib. Again, it was staged for a photo."

Kim has removed the photo from her Instagram feed but it still can be found on her Twitter page.
