There are three Kim Kardashian stories that will constantly circulate for the rest of eternity: 1. Her infamous sex tape. 2. Her beef with forever rival Taylor Swift. And 3. Whether or not the Paris robbery was staged. Today it’s number three that’s popped up as Kimmy discussed the 2016 robbery on the latest episode of The Kardashians, in particular how her ex Kanye West did not believe it was real.
The episode kicks off with Kim walking us through the nightmare-ish blow-by-blow of that night — when masked men dressed as cops stormed her Paris hotel room, tied her up at gunpoint, and swiped more than $6 million in jewellery, including that $4 million diamond ring.
She explains how they taped her mouth and eyes, bound her hands and feet, and left her wearing nothing but a robe. At one point she genuinely thought she was going to be assaulted, but the thieves took off with her jewellery instead.
In her confessional, Kim also gets candid about the wild conspiracy theories that she staged the whole thing for a Keeping Up With The Kardashians storyline. She says that at one point even Kanye — her husband at the time — accused her of faking the robbery, and he did it in front of a whole crowd of people.
“Howard Stern was famously mocking it all the time and saying I’m sick and it was just a joke and I made it all up,” Kardashian says through tears. “I remember he was so defiant about it. I was like, how could you be so certain? People trust you. That always stuck with me, also.”
She added: “My ex-husband had said, ‘And you faked your robbery for a TV show’… in front of all these people.”
The comment, which Kardashian said was a “knife to the heart”, left her visibly distraught.
“Just to think that someone wouldn’t believe you — that’s so close to you, that should know you — it just really bothered me,” she said.
According to Kim, having to face the men who traumatised her while testifying in court earlier this year was extremely vindicating for her.
“To finally be able to go to trial and face these people and hear their accounts and apologies, I’m like, ‘See guys, it was real’,” she says. “I’m happy it’s over.”
Eight of the 10 men on trial were found guilty, and while they copped three to eight year sentences, none of them will actually head back to prison thanks to time already served.
As for Kanye, he continues to be called out by Kim Kardashian for his heinous behaviour during (and after) their marriage (rightfully so!). She recently revealed the moment she knew she had to leave him in an interview with Call Her Daddy.
