Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner 'not briefed before being laughed at during Emmys'

Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner were "not briefed" before presenting an award at the Emmys that led to the audience laughing at them.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians stars provided the most uncomfortable moment of the 71st Emmy Awards ceremony last night.

And US media reports suggest they didn't know what they were saying was meant to be a joke.

The reality stars were ridiculed when they described themselves as "real people" and their popular TV show as "unfiltered and unscripted."

It turns out that their little speech before presenting an award was actually meant to be 'tongue-in-cheek' - the problem was that Kim and Kendall weren't told that beforehand.

The audience started laughing when Kim said: "Our family knows firsthand how truly compelling television comes from real people just being themselves."

Her delivery,  followed by Kendall earnestly claiming their show was spontaneous, led to an awkward moment as laughter filled the auditorium.

But Us Weekly has reported that they were "not briefed" on the teleprompter before heading on to the stage.

A source told them that Kim and Kendall were not told that the line were supposed to be delivered as a joke and that "it was definitely a bit awkward.”

It would seem that it was water off a ducks back though as the source went on to say that Kim and Kendall "weren’t bothered by people laughing.”
