Kim Jong-un's armoured limousine was surrounded by a circle of jogging bodyguards again as he travelled in Vietnam today.

Around a dozen bodyguards were pictured running alongside Kim's car as it made its way to the North Korean embassy in Hanoi ahead of his second summit with US president Donald Trump.

Video footage showed the guards flanking the vehicle as he set off for the two-hour journey on Tuesday, smiling and waving to children lining the route from his limousine.

The two leaders are due to meet over two days, first at dinner on Wednesday followed by meetings on Thursday.

Roads were closed on Tuesday with Vietnamese security forces in armoured-personnel carriers guarding the route to the city's Melia hotel where Kim is staying.

Earlier, Vietnamese officials were on hand to greet him at the station in Dong Dang town after he undertook a nearly 70-hour train ride through southern China over the Vietnamese border.

He received a red-carpet welcome with honour guard, military band and fluttering North Korean and Vietnamese flags.

Kim's sister, Kim Yo Jong, who has emerged as an important aide, arrived with him.

Mr Trump arrived late on Tuesday in Air Force One after a flight that included refuelling stops in England and Qatar.

Kim then ventured out of his hotel and spent Tuesday travelling around the Vietnamese capital in his limousine.

With his squad of bodyguards in tow, Kim visited sections of Hanoi, including his nation's embassy where a loud cheer went up as he entered the compound.

The leaders first met last June in Singapore, a summit that was long on historic pageantry but short on any enforceable agreements for North Korea to give up its nuclear arsenal.
