Kim Jong Un is about to send his 'personal girl band' Moranbong to Beijing

Kim Jong Un is sending his personal girl band, Moranbong, to Beijing, according to reports.

The North Korean leader wants them to play a series of concerts over a week, as Pyongyang seeks to improve its relationship with China ahead of an important UN meeting

The UN Security Council will discuss human rights abuses in North Korea, with activists hoping that the UN will send Mr Jong Un to the International Criminal Court for his country's actions. But China, a major ally to North Korea and the country's largest foreign direct investor, is likely to block the move.

KCNA, North Korea's state news agency, said the Moranbong Band, "a model of the Juche-based literature and art and a worldwide stylish band, will soon give friendship performances in China."

The five person girlband was formed in 2012 by Mr Jong Un himself.

The group is known for their synth-pop songs about the dictator's "sweet smile" and "warm heart".

Mr Kom Jong Un is a divisive and eccentric character, who has claimed he learned to drive at the age of 3 and cured the world of AIDS, Ebola and cancer. He was also the target of a CNN fat shaming scandal
