Kim Jones will replace Karl Lagerfeld at Fendi

Kim Jones will replace Karl Lagerfeld at Fendi, following the late designer's death in February last year.

In a statement, the brand explained that he will be responsible for the haute couture, ready-to-wear and fur collections for women.

It's been confirmed that he will retain his position at Dior Men's, which he assumed in June 2018.

It is the second major designer move by Fendi’s owner, luxury conglomerate, LVMH, since the pandemic began, after it appointed Matthew Williams as Givenchy’s new designer in June.

In a statement, LVMH’s chief executive, Bernard Arnault, called Mr. Jones “a great talent,” adding that he had proved his ability to adapt to the codes of assorted LVMH houses “with great modernity and audacity.”

LVMH does not disclose the sales performances of individual brands in its portfolio, but it has disclosed that in 2017, Fendi passed the billion-dollar mark in annual sales for the first time.

Jones will present his first fashion show for Fendi for AW21 during Milan Fashion Week in February.
