Kim Cattrall has ruled out reprising her role in Sex and the City in the show's reboot despite the new version being renewed for a second season.
The Samantha Jones star said that she had no desire to return to the part in either the series or another movie, indicating that she felt the character had run its course.
The sequel series to Sex and the City followed the continued exploits of Carrie Bradshaw and her friends Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davies).
Kim has now shed new light on her absence from And Just Like That, revealing that her co-stars failed to tell her they were shooting a new series and she found out on social media the same as fans.
Kim said she felt she was given the chop because she didn't agree to proposed storylines for a possible third movie in the franchise.
Sex positive PR Samantha's reported storyline was to receive unwanted nudes from friend Miranda's 14-year-old son Brady.
Kim said she found the suggestion 'heartbreaking' and turned down the offer.
Speaking of And Just Like That, Kim said: "I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did - on social media."
Within the show, Samantha's absence was explained by her friendship with Carrie, as well as relocating the character to London offscreen.
The stars of the show have also infamously feuded over the years, both publicly and behind the scenes.
When she was asked if Sarah Jessica Parker's comment that she would not be okay with Kim returning to the role of Samantha, she replied: “Well, it would never happen anyway. So nobody has to worry about that.”
The actor went on to define her relationship with her co-stars on the hit TV show as "colleagues" rather than friends.
She said: “I think we were colleagues. My colleagues aren’t my friends. It was professional.”
She was also surprised that the show appeared to be continuing with her character offscreen without her, saying: “I don’t know how to feel about it. It’s so finite for me, so it doesn’t continue.”
When she was asked if she had seen the new show, she replied: “I certainly heard about it. And I’ve come to the conclusion that really the greatest compliment I could have as an actor is to be missed.”
Kim was keen to emphasise that she has moved on from the show onto other projects.
“It’s tough competition. The original show is in all of our imaginations. But for me, it feels clean", she said.
These include a spin-off series of How I Met Your Mother, entitled How I Met Your Father.
And Just Like That, the Sex and the City sequel, has proved a hit with audiences and has been renewed for a second season.
