Kilwinning Rangers pip Petershill to signing of highly-rated winger

Kilwinning Rangers have pipped Petershill to the signing of winger Gavin Millar from West of Scotland League Premier Division rivals Blantyre Vics.

The highly rated 22-year-old becomes manager Chris Strain's third signing of the summer, following defenders Ross Smith and Kieran Wood to Buffs Park.

And Strain reckons ex-East Kilbride starlet Millar has all the attributes to make himself a fans' favourite in the mould of former Kilwinning wing king Dean Agnew.

He said: "Gavin is a very skilful, quick player who will give us a different dynamic in the forward areas.

"He stood out for Blantyre when they won promotion a few years ago and did well for them in the few games they played in the Premier last season.

"He has that ability to go past players and is something of a throwback to the likes of Dean Agnew.

"I'm always looking for a maverick type player with the guile to change a game.

"He's still something of an unknown quantity at Premier level given the few games he's played there but he has come into training and shown up really well.

Millar, who made his senior debut in the game for East Kilbride against Celtic in a 2016 Scottish Cup tie, had reportedly agreed terms with Conference C side Peasy in March.

But Strain added: "We managed to strike a deal with Blantyre to get Gavin out his contract and we're delighted to get him on board."
