Kilwinning Rangers manager Chris Strain aiming to get one over on old boss

Chris Strain hopes he can get one over on his former gaffer Alan Robertson tonight.

Kilwinning head to Kilmarnock to take on Bonnyton Thistle, who are managed by Strain’s ex-Killie boss Robertson.

The Buffs boss was part of the youth set-up at Rugby Park and says that loyalties will be out the window during the match tonight.

And Strain won’t be taking the Harriet Road side lightly after they defeated Pollok last week.

Speaking exclusively to Ayrshire Football News, he said: “We will be wary of Bonnyton, they are a team full of energy and a lot of pace at the top end of the pitch, they will catch us out if we’re not at it and on our game.

“I know Alan from my time at Killie, he was my manager and he’s been around the game long enough.

“He will have them organised and they’ll be difficult to beat.

“I think they are underdogs in the league in the sense that they are an unknown quantity, but I think they have recruited well and they will surprise a lot of people.”

Strain laughed: “Alan knows what I’m like, he had me for four years he knows all about me!

“But seriously, I have a lot of respect for him, he did a lot for my career as a player, and when I was at Killie Paul Wright — who is their assistant — was there too.

“They are good guys, good football men and they have done really well at Bonnyton.”

Buffs are top of the West of Scotland League Premier Division after three wins from three and they’ll be hoping to keep that up against Bonnyton and then at home to Glenafton Athletic on Saturday.
