Kilwinning Rangers go top of the West Premiership after 1-0 home win against Benburb

Kilwinning Rangers beat Benburb 1-0 this afternoon to go one point clear at the top of the West Premiership.

Dean Agnew scored the decisive goal at Buffs Park as both sides finished with 10-men.

Jamie Meechan was sent off for the visitors in the first half while Michael Hewitt saw red for the hosts after the break.

The victory lifts Kilwinning from third in the table to first after both Pollok and Hurlford slipped to 1-0 and 3-2 defeats against Kilbirnie Ladeside and Largs Thistle respectively.

Reigning champions Talbot were idle in the league as they took on Dundonald Bluebell in a Scottish Cup first preliminary round replay.

Kilwinning will be looking to extend their stay at the summit with victory in their next game away to Rutherglen Glencairn on Wednesday.
