Kilwinning Rangers boss warns side against complacency after high of beating Hamilton Accies

Kilwinning Rangers boss Chris Strain has warned his players not to get too carried away after the high of beating Hamilton Accies.

Wednesday night's shock against the Scottish Premiership outfit was the perfect confidence booster ahead of the season starting this Saturday.

Kilwinning host neighbours Ardeer Thistle in a Sectional League Cup match and will be strong favourites to make a winning start to the competition.

Three divisions separate the sides. Thistle finished bottom of League Two last season and have undergone a massive squad overhaul under management team Paul Kellington and Jim Catterson.

But Strain has ordered his side not to get complacent as he looks to build on the Accies victory.

He said: "I was very pleased with how we played (against Hamilton).

He said: "It was a good test for us and good for confidence. We probably deserved it on merit and effort.

"It ultimately counts for nothing though. The Ardeer game is a different proposition for us.

"The shoe is on the other foot when you become the favourites.

"They're very young. They'll try to be organised and work very hard."

"We need to make sure we don't become slack and think that because it's Ardeer and not Hamilton we can tune off.

"It's all about behaviours."
