Kilwinning Rangers boss Chris Strain unveils punishment plan to address discipline problem

Chris Strain has vowed to sort out Kilwinning’s discipline problems for next season.

The Buffs boss reckons cheap bookings and suspensions have cost his side big time this season.

Now he’s set to ramp up punishments for repeat offenders.

He said: “Our discipline hasn’t been good enough this season. It’s something that needs to be addressed.

“I’ll very much be making changes in that department to make sure we don’t get caught up in the emotions of the game as we do too often.

“Footballers like to play but if they do the same things time and time again there has to be sanctions, wether that’s monetary or they end up sitting watching.

“We can’t continue to pick up booking after booking for cheap comments.”

Strain has already starting shaping his squad for next season, with David Syme, Sam McCloskey, Tommy Maitland, Jamie Whyte, Mark Curragh and Ben Lewis all committing their futures to the club.

Lewis is the oldest of that bunch at 27 and Strain wants to build around that hardcore of young talent.

He said: “You can go into the market and add a senior player for a last pay day but that’s not what we want to be about. We want to be a club that creates players with a hunger and a desire.

“There will be four or five changes but It’ll be a different feel and look about the team next year.”
