Kilwinning Rangers announce name of new home ground

Kilwinning Rangers have revealed their new home ground will be called Buffs Park - after the club's nickname.

Chairman Colin Boyd said it was the natural choice after volunteers working to get the stadium ready for the new season came up with the name.

Kilwinning quit Abbey Park, their ancestral home for 90 years,  in May for a switch across town to Kilwinning Sports Club.

Colin said: "The guys have been working their socks off at the ground every day and kept referring to it as Buffs Park.

"It just stuck. There didn't seem any point trying to come up with anything else.

"We'd thought about naming it New Abbey Park or after a famous player or committee man but this seems a more natural name for the place."

A massive 70 per cent of fans voted in favour of the move to Kilwinning Sports Club in January - ending months of speculation over the club's future.
