Kilsyth Rangers green light West of Scotland start after threat to pull out amid kick-off chaos

Kilsyth Rangers have confirmed they will start the West of Scotland League season - despite being the first club to publicly threaten to pull out of the new set-up.

The new tier six and seven has been plunged into chaos over the weekend with eight clubs walking away and promotion and relegation to be axed.

With The Wee Gers set to open their Conference C campaign against Drumchapel, secretary William Dunbar told Lanarkshire Live Sport the season was a "non-goer" without fans or promotion.

Dunbar added that the Duncansfield Park side "certainly can't exist without fans" and called for the full season to be scrapped.

However, following crunch talk between players, management and the committee a decision has been made to start the season on October 24.

A club statement read: "In these unprecedented times and with all the uncertainty around at the moment, the club can confirm we will be taking our place for the upcoming WOSFL season in Conference C as planned.

"After discussion with the players, management and committee members it was the best course of action for the club."
