Staff at a Kilmarnock supermarket have tested positive for COVID-19.
It's claimed that four workers at Tesco on Glasgow Road have contracted the virus and are self isolating.
Supermarket chiefs confirmed today that a "very small number" of staff have tested positive for coronavirus.
In a leaked memo to staff at the store, bosses admitted the news was unsettling but that the supermarket was following the latest government advice.
The document, leaked to the Kilmarnock Standard reads: "We have four colleagues in self isolation at the moment and we have received conformation that four colleagues from this store has [sic] tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus). I would ask you to keep this information confidential at this stage – it is very important.
"I appreciate that this news is unsettling, but I would like to reassure you that we are closely following the latest government advice and if anything changes, we will of course let you know the safety of our colleagues and customers remains our number one priority."
A Tesco spokesperson said: “A very small number of colleagues at our Kilmarnock superstore have tested positive for COVID-19.
"Their close contacts have been informed. The safety of our colleagues, customers and suppliers remains our number one priority and we are working with local public health authorities, following all Scottish Government guidance, including when colleagues need to self-isolate, and taking the relevant precautions.
"We have extensive measures across all of our stores to help keep everyone safe, including protective screens at every checkout, a traffic light system at our store entrance monitoring numbers, social distancing signage and regular cleaning.”
