Kilmarnock team buses attacked in Ayr as window smashed and players left 'shaken' after dramatic derby

Kilmarnock's team buses were attacked in Ayr following last night's dramatic derby at Somerset Park.

A window on one of the coaches was smashed around 10.18pm in the White City area of the town.

No one was injured during the incident but Ayrshire Live has been told the driver and players on board were left "shaken" by what happened.

The other bus was struck with an object but no windows were broken.

A last-minute penalty from striker Oli Shaw earned Killie a 1-0 win over their bitter rivals, and sent them top of the cinch Championship, however, events as they began their journey home have left a sour taste.

Killie chiefs say their players and staff were at risk of being seriously hurt and confirmed today they have brought the matter to the attention of police.

A club spokesman said: "Thankfully nobody was hurt in this incident but clearly this could have resulted in a serious injury to our players and staff.

"We have passed our information on to the police and will assist them with their investigation."
